BLACK CLOTHES MATTER
Powerful & in control. That's how I feel. That's how an all black outfit makes me feel. I don't understand people who underestimate the power of clothing. Fashion is something more than just the clothes on our bodies. Fashion is a way for us to show the world who we are or who we want to become. With the right clothes you can do anything, you can be anything, you just have to want it enough. And believe me, I want it. I want it bad. And when I wear black, it's like something awakens in me, that beast that's living inside of me. And it's hungry. It's hungry for success. We often forget about our ambitions and tell ourselves that we're satisfied with what we have. But the truth is, I want more. And I'll go and get it, it's waiting for me somewhere, waiting for my beast. And don't worry, I'll get there, even if it means going against the stream.

NOIR
I have a confession to make, like the majority of my generation I am kind of obsessed with instagram. And I know that others can find my constant hashtagging and picture liking annoying, but there's a certain kind of calmness that comes with scrolling your feed and seeing other people do what they love. And also, it's a great outlet to share the #ootd's and get inspired by other stylish people. But for some reason, I always have felt like I need another platform to share my style posts. Of course, there's Lookbook and Chictopia, but as the years have gone by, their concept starts to feel dated and honestly I still use them just because I feel like I have to. And then something amazing happened, one day not that long ago I was scrolling my twitter feed and came across an app called Feels. I was intrigued by their profile and all the cool streetstyle posts they were sharing, so I headed to play store to download it. And that's when the game changed.

URBAN LEGENDS
I was a blogger
Not a very popular one
I once had dreams of becoming a style icon
But upon an unfortunate series of events saw those dreams dashed and divided like a million stars in the night sky
That I wished on over and over again, sparkling and broken
But I really didn’t mind because I knew that it takes getting everything you ever wanted and then losing it to know what true freedom is

THE PERFECT DAY OFF
It's kinda funny that I'm writing this post on a Saturday that happens to be a workday for me. But I guess I'm funny that way. I don't get a lot of days off lately and when I do, I like to spend them the way I like. As it's still super-hot-avoid-outdoors-and-human-interaction kind of summer, I spend a lot of time at home. And I don't really mind, because sometimes I feel that summer only exists to piss me off and make me wear clothes I hate (like shorts).

MEET THE GIRLS FROM 'NEAT'
I’ve heard that the best things in life come unexpectedly. And I guess that’s true indeed. Not even 7410 kilometers or 9 time zones could keep us from finding each other. I’m talking about Kayla Browne & Suzanne Stewart from The Neat Blog and this little collab that came to me by surprise. After a small chat on twitter, we all realised that we should do something great together and so we did. But we’ll get to that a bit later, first I’ll introduce you to them.

The September Issue
So Autumn’s here and September’s almost passed. I’m sure we’ve all read one or more September Issues of our favorite magazines. Since my heart belongs to the north, this is the most exciting and the most beautiful time of the year. I get to do layering, wear outerwear and the weather is chilly, what more can you possibly wish for?

White walls and black Tees
I’ve been putting my sewing machine to work lately, at least I do when I get the chance. I really like this black tee that I made, hope you’ll like it too. I made the numbers from fake leather, I did have problems sewing them onto the fabric, so I used this special fabric glue. The glue is supposed to last long and you can also wash the garment in the washing machine and basically do whatever you want with it. I kind of wish I had made the tee a bit longer, so I could layer it with other garments since fall is coming (finally!).

Writer's block
I’ve been gone, I’ve been lost. I haven’t given my all to this blog, but it seemed like I had lost some creative gene in my body. And I don’t want that to happen again, so this post is like a promise, like a reminder to myself to keep going. During this dark time of mine, I had a lot of second thoughts about this blog and blogging in general. But finally I realised, that I have been doing this since I was sixteen and it’s made me the person I am today. And I don’t feel like giving that part of myself away. And while I did some thinking, I realised where I got lost. It was when I started running for followers and blog stats and everything that comes with it. So I’ve changed things. I finally changed my blogging platform and simplified everything quite a bit. And I don’t care how many people will read this, all I care about is that posting this makes me happier. And that’s exactly what I’ve missed.

Bai:doo : A nice place
It’s been a while since all the holidays have passed and since the celebration season ended. But it wont take long until new ones will come our way & before you know it, birthdays, anniversaries, parties and graduations will take over your organizer and the never-aging question of ‘what to wear?’ will pop up on your mind again. But if you’re above the average fashion consumer with an eye set out for that special something & appreciate quality then this article might be just for you!

Be proud of Agnese Rakovska: The Interview

I want to start off by congratulating all fellow Latvians as it’s our 95th independence day. Today should be all about celebrating who we are and being proud of our small nation and it’s people. And in a way it’s exactly what this article is about. And I really want you all to feel proud of the amazing Agnese Rakovska, who is not only the lead singer for the band Triana Park, but also a trend setter, style icon and a personal favorite of mine. I still remember the chills her music combined with her eccentric style gave me years ago when I first saw her perform. And that amazement has not disappeared, it’s only gotten stronger. After this introduction I bet you can tell how honored and excited I was when I found out that she agreed to do an interview for my blog!

RFW: Janis Sne SS14

I was very excited to find out that one of the most innovative and fashion forward local designers Jānis Šnē was gonna do a show for Riga Fashion Week this fall. And I was even more excited when I found out that I’m gonna have a chance to see the show in person. Every fashion conscious Latvian has heard at least something about this designer & in the last few years I remember reading numerous interviews and articles about him. Jānis Šnē is known for very sculptural, architectural and almost out of this world pieces. And his new collection DOFA was no exception.

Riga Sweethearts

And so it’s October, I guess I could say it’s my favorite time of the year. This time autumn has brought me lots of changes. And due to these changes I haven’t been able to blog as much as I’d want. For a little while I’m back in Riga and between all of the rainy days there was one that was perfect for the sweetheart photoshoot. It was cold, but we had a great time shooting these pictures with a close friend and photographer Elvijs Strazds.

A whimsical interview: Agnese Kleina

Being a fashion blogger, there are only a few blogs which I read and inspire from on a regular basis. But there is one that’s my complete favorite. It’s Whimsicalagnesiga, of course. There’s a lot of reasons why I like it, first of all, it’s the most successful Latvian fashion blog & the girl standing behind it is a huge inspiration herself. Agnese Kleina is not only an amazing journalist and blogger, but a fashion icon of the new generation. Let’s just say that I was more than excited that she agreed to do an interview for G&M.

I've got questions: Interview with Liba Skuja
Lately it’s a lot about first times for me, last time it was the first G&M photoshoot, this time it’s the first interview for my blog. I interviewed Lība Skuja, a girl who definitely stands out in the crowd and is an upcoming designer.

'F' for First
This is the first of hopefully many photoshoots I’m doing for this blog. This time I wanted to show off the maxi skirt that I made. First of all, I’m no pro tailor, I just try to make things that I like and experiment a lot to see how far can I go with it. For now it’s a hobby that I hope to turn into work one day. So I’ve decided to share some of my designs and I’ll start with this beautiful skirt that I made for my friend recently. She absolutely loves them and is rocking it in this shoot.

RIGA FASHION WEEK AW13/14
Days have passed and I’ve found the time & the energy to write about what I’ve seen in Riga Fashion Week AW13/14. As always, I am going to be honest, if I don’t like something - I say it. If I hate something, I say it even louder. I had the chance to go to fashion shows by Ieva Daugirdaitė, Comeforbreakfast, Nóló, Lena Tsokalenko & Irina Skladnova. I’m going to write about the good, the bad, the great & the horrible.
